PARISH GROUPS

Evenings during the week in homes throughout the Valley.

Welcome Lunches

August 10, October 19

Parish groups seek to foster intimacy and community through the breaking of bread and prayer. In these smaller communities, we explore what it means to live out our mission of abiding as disciples of Christ: invited to rest, compelled to love.

Parish groups follow a semester-long cadence and pause during the winter holidays and over summer break. We currently have five parish groups meeting throughout the county. If you’d like to join a parish group, please email fabian@churchofthelamb.org.

See more details about each parish group below!

  • Leader: Daniel Zimmerman (daniel@churchofthelamb.org)

    Where: Novosel's home—5034 Trissels Road

    When: Wednesdays, 6–8 p.m.

We have tons of kids and normally, weather permitting, meet outside. Each week, we have a potluck supper, followed by a time where we worship and pray together using the Book of Common Prayer’s evening liturgy for families.

  • Leader: Alec Bauserman (alec.bauserman@gmail.com)

Where: Perings's Home, 16653 E Washington Ave., Elkton

    When: Mondays, 5:30–7:30 p.m.

Dinner, discussion, and prayer. Childcare possible, but please let us know if you needed.

  • Leaders: Sam and Susanna Casteel (susanna.sewall@gmail.com)

Where: Casteel Home—91 Sharon Street, Harrisonburg

    When: Wednesdays, 6–8 p.m.

Our group's mission statement is “Growing a community of Jesus followers who seek to shine the light of Jesus to our neighbors and coworkers.” Everyone brings their own dinner and we eat together. We then move into our study, followed by gender-based prayer groups. We endeavor to end at 8, but rarely end on time.

  • Leaders: Rachel Fletcher and Sarah Defnall (rachel@carbonand.co)

Where: Fletcher home-- 825 Sand Trap Ln.

    When: Thursdays 5:30-7:30

Childcare will be provided for our many children. We share a potluck style meal together before entering into a time of fellowship and prayer, guided by the Book of Common Prayer's Family Worship for that evening. The Fletchers typically provide the main meal component and we coordinate the rest via email the week before. Please note that this is a family friendly group with eighteen children ages 0-11.

  • Leader: John Bennetch (jbennetch@gmail.com)

    Where: Martin's home—240 Claremont Avenue

    When: Wednesdays, 6–8 p.m.

We rotate who provides meals. No childcare provided on site.

Welcome Lunches help introduce newcomers to the people and purpose of Church of the Lamb. If you’re new, or newish to Lamb, we invite you to come learn more about Anglicanism, Rockingham Abbey, the mission and values of our church, and more!

Click one of the dates to the left to register for that welcome lunch.

OTHER FELLOWSHIP & STUDY OPPORTUNITIES

“Order your soul; reduce your wants; live in charity; associate in Christian community; obey the laws; trust in Providence.” ―Augustine

Aside from parish groups, we have ongoing opportunities for fellowship and study. Whether you’re looking to connect with the church community, dive into scripture, or make space for contemplative worship and prayer, we invite you to life at Church of the Lamb.

Please note which events require registration! All are welcome, but we appreciate being able to ensure we have enough food and/or resources for all who attend.

  • Morning Prayer (Tues & Thurs)

    Where: Church office (contact kelly@churchofthelamb.org)

When: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30–9:15 a.m.

What: Join the church staff in following the Book of Common Prayer through Bible reading, reflection, and prayer.

  • Want to go deeper? Try Triads.

Triads are a proven path for growth. The group size (three) fosters greater depth and vulnerability, zeroing in on each individual’s spiritual growth. As scary (and risky) as it may feel for some, we all have a deep longing to be truly seen, known, and loved for who we really are. In that context, we find the courage to take risks and push ourselves to open more fully to God’s invitations for us. This is the goal of a healthy, loving, God-centered triad.

  • We host spiritual retreats each semester to focus on contemplative spiritual practices. They range from a few hours to about a day.

Our upcoming 24-hr retreat is October 11-12th.

    Please register.

2025 Important Dates

Keep the following dates in mind so you can join us in celebrating important dates in the life of the church.

A Caveat. . .

Rest and Sabbath are integral to the lives of God’s people. We invite you to choose formation options that best feed your commitment to Christian community and spiritual growth without feeling you need to sign up for every option available at Church of the Lamb.

As Church of the Lamb’s mission affirms, we are absolutely “compelled to love”, committing to abiding as disciples in community and from there to take action in the world.

But we are also “invited to rest.” By practicing sabbath, we say “yes” to God’s gracious invitation. For a blog article that we published on Sabbath, click here.

That said, we encourage you to find at least one place outside of Sunday worship where you can plug in consistently.

Children & Youth Ministry

The spiritual formation of our children and youth is essential to our mission and values at church of the Lamb. Click the button below to learn about our Children & Youth ministries.

Almighty God, heavenly Father, you have blessed us with the joy and care of children: Give us calm strength and patient wisdom so to train them, that they may love all that is true, and pure, and lovely, and of good report, following the example of their Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

(The Book of Common Prayer 2019)

Rockingham Abbey

The Abbey is how Church of the Lamb does what we believe. It is how we abide, where we learn to rest, and what people compelled by love look like.
